CTC139 – Everyday Occasions

Today I played along with CASEing the Catty.  CASEing the Everyday Occasions pages from the Annual Catalogue.

I picked the card from page 27 that features the Label Me Pretty Bundle.

Lauren Meiklejohn

I chose Bermuda Bay and Pool Party for the main colours.

How I made this card:

  • Thick whisper white card stock A6 (210 x 148mm scored at 105mm);
  • Bermuda Bay background (144 x 100mm), Stamped Burlap Background Stamp in Bermuda Bay.
  • Bermuda Bay banner is 5 x 2in cut with the Banner Triple Punch and embossed with the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
  • Pool Party banner is 4 x 2in also cut with the Banner Triple Punch.
  • I use the Label Me Pretty Bundle for the sentiment.  I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and coloured in with Stampin’ Write Markers in Pool Party, Melon Mambo and Old Olive.
  • I attached some Linen Thread to the back of the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And adhered everything else down.

I really love how this card turned out.  I only just bought the Label Me Pretty Bundle and have fallen in love with it.  And I love the texture of the linen thread, I’m not big on using ribbons and trims but I really want to get into using them more.

Here is the challenge if you wanted to play along with CASEing the Catty.

Until next time… Happy Stampin’,

Split Hexagons

Back in January I created a card the Can You Case It? Challenge.  My card had this beautiful watercolour effect  background that I then ran through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Dynamics Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Well that card had my second attempt at doing the watercolour effect.

The following two cards feature my first attempt.

I have a hard time throwing things away so this piece floated around my desk for months.  My main problem with the original piece was that it didn’t emboss straight.

So after months of staring at it I decided to cut of all the pieces that made it look not straight, keeping a few of the hexagons to create the second card.  I chose hexagons that had some good colour differentiation.

How I made this card:

  • Card base is A6 Thick Whisper White;
  • The background is Shimmery White Cardstock cut to 148 x 95mm;
  • Using Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight on a piece of plastic packaging and water I used them to randomly colour the page.  I used my heat tool speed up the drying process;
  • I ran the background piece through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, using my paper snips I cut off some of the hexagons;
  • I ran two 4 x 5 3/4in pieces of Whisper White through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Embossing Folder;
  • I adhered the solid hexagons with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the individual hexagons with SNAIL Adhesive;
  • The sentiment is from Scenic Sayings Stamp Set, it stamped this Rich Razzleberry Ombre Ink Pad and fussy cut them out.

Until next time… Happy Stampin’,
