My Onstage Sydney Swaps

I just wanted to share my swap that I created for Onstage Local that I attended this past weekend in Sydney.

I participated in my teams ATC (Artist Trading Card) Swap which required us to create cards that were 3x4in in size.

This is the card I created:

LM17-SWAP001

I used products from the Succulent Garden Suite along with the Suite Sentiments Stamp Set and the Layering Circles and Stitched Shapes Dies.

I just love the way it all came together and I think it would look just as great scaled to fit on an A6 card front.

Until next time.. Happy Stampin’,

Lauren

Split Hexagons

Back in January I created a card the Can You Case It? Challenge.  My card had this beautiful watercolour effect  background that I then ran through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Dynamics Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Well that card had my second attempt at doing the watercolour effect.

The following two cards feature my first attempt.

I have a hard time throwing things away so this piece floated around my desk for months.  My main problem with the original piece was that it didn’t emboss straight.

So after months of staring at it I decided to cut of all the pieces that made it look not straight, keeping a few of the hexagons to create the second card.  I chose hexagons that had some good colour differentiation.

How I made this card:

  • Card base is A6 Thick Whisper White;
  • The background is Shimmery White Cardstock cut to 148 x 95mm;
  • Using Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight on a piece of plastic packaging and water I used them to randomly colour the page.  I used my heat tool speed up the drying process;
  • I ran the background piece through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, using my paper snips I cut off some of the hexagons;
  • I ran two 4 x 5 3/4in pieces of Whisper White through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Embossing Folder;
  • I adhered the solid hexagons with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the individual hexagons with SNAIL Adhesive;
  • The sentiment is from Scenic Sayings Stamp Set, it stamped this Rich Razzleberry Ombre Ink Pad and fussy cut them out.

Until next time… Happy Stampin’,

Lauren

Playing in the Urban Underground

I recently got some items from the Urban Underground Suite of the Occasions Catalogue and wanted to have a play.

I wanted to show the versatility of this cards design and products within the suite to create a birthday card and a thank you card.

LM17-BC006

The two cards use Delightful Dijon and Versamark with Clear Embossing Powder (my new favourite item, don’t know how I have gone this long without it). The birthday sentiment is from Super Duper Stamp Set and the thank you sentiment is from Scenic Sayings.

LM17-BC006a

LM17-BC006b

How I made these cards?

  • Card base is A6 Basic Grey;
  • Card matte is 5 3/4 x 4in in Very Vanilla;
  • I stamped the sentiment in both Delightful Dijon on Very Vanilla and Versamark on Basic Grey then added Clear Embossing Powder;
  • I cut out the banner details from each sentiment that are stamped on the Basic Grey;
  • I cut out the sentiments stamped on the Very Vanilla with the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies;
  • I cut out Basic Grey circle with the second largest circle, then embossed the circle using the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder;
  • Then I cut out the two circles from the Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper with the second smallest circle;
  • Finally I put all three Urban Underground Designer Washi Tape on to the Very Vanilla matte;

Happy stampin’,

  • On Whisper White Cardstock I stamped the flower and outline from the Penned & Painted Stamp Set in Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry

CTC 90 – Project Life and Kits

This week I wanted to switch it up and play along with CASEing the Catty Challenge.  This challenge really intrigued me because there are so many different kinds of inspiration within the Project Life and Kit category of the catalogue.

I chose to take inspiration from the Watercolor Wishes All-Inclusive Card Kits.  I made up this kit all the way back in May and I have it mounted on black card hanging up behind me at my desk, next to the Oh Happy Day Card Kit of course.  They are both gorgeous kits but I must say Watercolor Wishes is my favourite out of the two.

I just love the washes of colour on the base cards and watercolour flowers, and don’t get me started on the stamp set!

Here are the cards I made:

LM16-CASE001

I wanted to use some of the new In Colors… I haven’t been giving Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo much love lately.  I still had to throw in Sweet Sugarplum, my favourite new In Color!! As well as Calypso Coral and Rich Razzleberry for some definition.

The Stamps I used were the Perpetual Birthday Calendar, Scenic Sayings, Mixed Borders and Penned & Painted.

Here’s a close look at each card:

LM16-CASE001c

Card no. 1:

  • Card base: A5 scored in half of Thick Whisper White.
  • Flirty Flamingo to stamp the watercolour stamp from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar.
  • Sentiment piece is half inch piece of Peekaboo Peach card stock layered under a piece Sweet Sugarplum and Whisper White, I created the banner edge using Banner Triple Punch.
  • The sentiment is from the Mixed Borders Stamp Set and is stamped in Peekaboo Peach.
  • The flower is from the Penned & Painted Stamp Set I used Sweet Sugarplum for the painted step and Rich Razzleberry for the penned step.
  • I adhered everything with Snail and the flower with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

LM16-CASE001a

Card no. 2:

  • Card base: A5 scored in half of Thick Whisper White.
  • The background is stamped in Peekaboo Peach using the watercolour stamp.
  • The banner piece is Sweet Sugarplum.
  • The sentiment is from Scenic Sayings stamped in Flirty Flamingo.
  • The flowers are stamped in Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum for the painted step and Calypso Coral and Rich Razzleberry for the penned step.
  • I adhered the banner with Snail, the sentiment and larger flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the smaller flower with more Snail.

LM16-CASE001b

Card no. 3:

  • Card base: A5 scored in half of Thick Whisper White.
  • The next layer is 5cm smaller then the closed card.  I used the circles from the Perpetual  Birthday Calendar stamped in Flirty Flamingo, stamping randomly but not overlapping circles at the top and bottom of the piece.
  • The strip at the bottom and the banner at the top is Sweet Sugarplum.
  • The sentiment is from Scenic Sayings stamped in Peekaboo Peach.
  • The flowers are stamped in Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum for the painted step and Calypso Coral and Rich Razzleberry for the penned step.
  • I adhered the strip and banner on to the bottom layer and then the flowers on to the banner with Snail.  The bottom layer was then attached to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I really enjoyed this challenge… If you wanted to give it a go here is the challenge.  You have until the end of August to submit your project.

Until next time… Happy stamping,

Lauren

Au Revoir Banner Punch

I haven’t had the Banner Punch for very long but fell in love with it when I made this card and sad to see it on the retirement list.

I made this card on Mother’s Day weekend when I was at the Brisbane Model Train Show.  It was actually my Mum who started me off with this because I had left the stand for a few minutes and when I came back she had grabbed the punch and a piece of It’s My Party Designer Series Paper and started to punch.  I decided to continue and created this card.

LM16-BC018

The stamp I used is from stamp set that is included in the Watercolor Wishes All-Inclusive Kit.  I just love that stamp set it is so sophisticated looking and beautiful.

But any the back to the card I love the texture that is created by the layering of the punched DSP.  And of course had to add some Clear Wink of Stella to the lines of the stamped sentiment as well on some of the arrow on the DSP which unfortunately you can’t see.

Nicely Stacked

So I originally made this card intending it to be Mother’s Day card but then I later figured it could be an any time card.

I really do love the cup stack in the Nice Cuppa stamp set which is sadly retiring, especially when it is paired with the leaves and flowers from the Numbers of Years stamp set.

I stamped the cup stacks in Blackberry Bliss (another sad to see retirement) the leaves and flowers in Old Olive and Perfect Plum.

I also stamped the two tea tags from the Nice Cuppa stamp set also in Perfect Plum which I just had to add a rhinestone to.
