Mixing Brand New and Retiring

This stack of cards was created for a breast cancer fundraiser at my Mum’s work.

LM17-NOTE001a

I wanted to start to have a play with the new items from the Annual Catalogue 2017 – 18 that launches 1st June plus work in current/retiring items.

I picked four different pinks Powder Pink, Berry Burst (these are two new In Colors 2017-19), Flirty Flamingo and Pink Pirouette, plus Basic Black and Tranquil Tide (also a new In Color).

I used an entire packet of Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes.

LM17-NOTE001b

1 – Frilly Berry Burst

This card is matted with Berry Burst Card Stock. The frill is created by cutting blocks of colour of the Berry Burst sheet from the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack.  The sentiment is from the Super Duper Stamp Set, I stamped twice in Berry Burst, then fussy cut both out.

LM17-NOTE001c

2 – Pocket Change

I used another sheet of Berry Burst from the Color Theory DSP Stack but this time I used the watercolour effect one.  This is perfect for making it look like jeans that have faded in places.   I managed to fit four pockets from the Pocketful of Sunshine Stamp Set on one 6×6.  I used Stampin’ Dimensionals so an actual note could still fit in the pocket.  The note is stamped in Tranquil Tide, the pocket tag is stamped in Berry Burst and Basic Black.  The sentiment is from the Super Duper Stamp Set.

LM17-NOTE001d

3 – A Lifting Note

This card uses the Lift Me Up Stamp Set, Up & Away Dies and Stitched Shapes.  I stamped the balloons in Flirty Flamingo and Pink Pirouette.  The Balloon Die was cut out in Whisper White and using Dauper I sponged Flirty Flamingo on the top half.

LM17-NOTE001e

4 – Blast of Berry Burst

This card uses the Birthday Blast Stamp Set and the matching Star Blast Dies.  The sentiment is from the Window Shopping Stamp Set.  I stamped the background stars in Powder Pink and the star die is cut out in Berry Burst.

LM17-NOTE001f

5 – Flirty Flamingo Flamingo

This card uses the Fabulous Flamingo Stamp Set, stamping in Flirty Flamingo, Pink Pirouette and Basic Black.  The leaves on the background were stamped around the edge in both pinks.  The Flamingo is stamped in Pink Pirouette, Flirty Flamingo, Basic Black.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

LM17-NOTE001g

6 – Decked out in Powder Pink and Berry Burst

This card uses Berry Burst and Powder Pink.  I created the background by taking the A Clear Block and inking it in Powder Pink then swirling it around the card base.  I stamped the sentiment from the Colourful Seasons Stamp Set.  The chair is cut using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.

LM17-NOTE001h

7 – Piece of Cake

These cards use all Powder Pink and all Pink Pirouette.  I inked up the doilies with the colour ink pads then with Versamark and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.  The sentiment is from the Birthday Blast sentiment, I fussy cut them out.  The cake dies are left overs from the Bithday Bright Project Kit, the pieces were not the same white as the note cards so used dauber and sponged the matching colours onto the cake dies.

LM17-NOTE001i

8 – Super Duper Doilies

These cards use all four pinks.  I took my ink pads of Berry Burst and Flirty Flamingo and inked up the Lace Doilies (which I am so upset they are retiring)… And by the way is it just me or does that Berry Burst Doily look like Blackberry Bliss?

I also used Versamark and Clear Embossing Powder to almost reinforce the doilies because they become super fragile from being inked up.  The sentiment is from the Super Duper Stamp Set, I stamped in all four pinks, then cut the ‘Birthday’ out of the lighter colours.

LM17-NOTE001j

9 – Super Simple I Love You

This card is really simple, I used Pink Piroeutte Ink Pad to stamp the background.  Flirty Flamingo to stamp ink the doily.  The sentiment is from the Fabulous Flamingo Stamp Set, which was cut out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my nine cards, and until next time…

Happy stampin,

Lauren

Au Revoir Banner Punch

I haven’t had the Banner Punch for very long but fell in love with it when I made this card and sad to see it on the retirement list.

I made this card on Mother’s Day weekend when I was at the Brisbane Model Train Show.  It was actually my Mum who started me off with this because I had left the stand for a few minutes and when I came back she had grabbed the punch and a piece of It’s My Party Designer Series Paper and started to punch.  I decided to continue and created this card.

LM16-BC018

The stamp I used is from stamp set that is included in the Watercolor Wishes All-Inclusive Kit.  I just love that stamp set it is so sophisticated looking and beautiful.

But any the back to the card I love the texture that is created by the layering of the punched DSP.  And of course had to add some Clear Wink of Stella to the lines of the stamped sentiment as well on some of the arrow on the DSP which unfortunately you can’t see.

Nicely Stacked

So I originally made this card intending it to be Mother’s Day card but then I later figured it could be an any time card.

I really do love the cup stack in the Nice Cuppa stamp set which is sadly retiring, especially when it is paired with the leaves and flowers from the Numbers of Years stamp set.

I stamped the cup stacks in Blackberry Bliss (another sad to see retirement) the leaves and flowers in Old Olive and Perfect Plum.

I also stamped the two tea tags from the Nice Cuppa stamp set also in Perfect Plum which I just had to add a rhinestone to.

Captain America vs Iron Man

Last friday after I had finished setting up my stand at the show I knew it would be a while until I would be leaving.  I decided to make the following card (lucky I had the forethought to bring my last piece of Real Red and Pacific Point card stock and was able to make five cards from them).

I thought it appropriate with the latest Captain America being released… Which is awesome by the way!!

I had seen heaps of Captain America cards around Pinterest but never an Iron Man card.  I initially made the Captain America first and showed it to one of the organisers kids who was walking around which he said to me, “I’m offended… I am an Iron Man fan…”  So with that in mind I challenged myself to come up with an Iron Man side, and I think it turned out great.

The Iron Man symbol is made with a circle of Real Red Card Stock, cut in 4.  The circle smaller in Whisper White Card Stock.  A star cut out of Whisper White, cut off one of the points, making sure it’ll fit in the Whisper White circle, I covered the triangle in Clear Wink of Stella.  Finally adhering everything together.

Mothers Day Week

This is going to be a busy week for me as I prepare for my first show this weekend and I have been busily making cards to show and sell.

My first lot of cards that I made are Mothers Day cards to that I thought I would share for any one needing some inspiration.

My first card is a card in a box.  I always thought they were these huge boxes made out of 12×12 card stock and were made solid so my other thought was “where would you store them after the event?”

After some research (mainly pinterest).  I discovered how wrong I was, they can fit in a C6 envelope and fold flat.

LM16-MDC001

The dimensions: 5 1/2in x the width of an A4 (210mm),  I scored every 2in on the long side. On the short side I scored at 2 3/4in.  Each piece of Designer Series paper is cut at 1 7/8 x
2 5/8in.  There is also a piece on the back which does’t get folded that DSP piece is cut at
1 7/8 x 5 3/8in.

The hearts I cut out with the heart that is apart of the Circle Card Thinlits.  The tea cup is from the A Nice Cuppa Stamp Set.  I used Melon Mambo which I stamped off first, which kind of gives it a nice watercolour effect.  I fussy cut the cup because I don’t own the Cup & Kettle Framelit Dies that co-ordinate with the stamp set.

The sentiment on the front is a piece of Whisper White cut out with the smallest dies in the Chalk Talk Thinlits and the 1 1/4 Scallop Punch.  I used some Clear Wink of Stella on the hearts which is a bit hard to see.
