This week, I decided to CASE this card from page 18. I just loved how they created the background and also the beautiful sentiment cluster and wanted to recreate both elements.

I started off this card with the background, stamping three different of the butterflies, from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set, in Flirty Flamingo ink onto a piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock. Then I coloured around all the butterflies with the Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends Marker, and over the top of that colour with the Color Lifter Stampin’ Blends Markers.

I adhered the background piece to a Flirty Flamingo card base, with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Then I started to put together the sentiment cluster. I stamped on set of butterflies in Lemon Lime Twist ink onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, then punched out with the coordinating Butterfly Duet Punch. I punched out a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock with the Pretty Label Punch. And finally, two of each Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive Cardstocks with the Sprig Punch. I also stamped the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink onto a strip of Whisper White Cardstock.

After a 10 minute search, I adhered a piece of Old Olive Linen Thread to the card front with Tear & Tape Adhesive. Then I took the Pretty Label Punch piece of Crumb Cake, I broke down the fibres in the cardstock and ripped apart the two layers, to give me the leather effect. I adhered the four lots of sprigs the back of the Crumb Cake piece with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, and onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered all the sentiment piece with Tear & Tape Adhesive. I adhered the two butterflies and three flowers from the Butterly Elements with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Finally, after an unfortunate accident with the liquid glue, I restamped and punched out the large butterfly and adhered it over the top of the original, this time I coloured over the top with Clear Wink of Stella.

This is the end of the hop, but if you joined here or halfway thru, there are still more beautiful projects to see, next up is Elizabeth Gross.

Until next time… Happy Stampin’,

Lauren

Great technique to only colour the background and bring the images forward – very clever. I haven’t done the leather look split card for quite a while – another clever use of this technique. Lovely Card Lauren

I’m amazed at the brilliant neutral colour cluster with the flirty flamingo. It looks awesome together. And I agree that colouring the background is a fabulous idea. Gorgeous card.
