Split Hexagons

Back in January I created a card the Can You Case It? Challenge.  My card had this beautiful watercolour effect  background that I then ran through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Dynamics Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Well that card had my second attempt at doing the watercolour effect.

The following two cards feature my first attempt.

I have a hard time throwing things away so this piece floated around my desk for months.  My main problem with the original piece was that it didn’t emboss straight.

So after months of staring at it I decided to cut of all the pieces that made it look not straight, keeping a few of the hexagons to create the second card.  I chose hexagons that had some good colour differentiation.

How I made this card:

  • Card base is A6 Thick Whisper White;
  • The background is Shimmery White Cardstock cut to 148 x 95mm;
  • Using Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight on a piece of plastic packaging and water I used them to randomly colour the page.  I used my heat tool speed up the drying process;
  • I ran the background piece through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, using my paper snips I cut off some of the hexagons;
  • I ran two 4 x 5 3/4in pieces of Whisper White through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Embossing Folder;
  • I adhered the solid hexagons with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the individual hexagons with SNAIL Adhesive;
  • The sentiment is from Scenic Sayings Stamp Set, it stamped this Rich Razzleberry Ombre Ink Pad and fussy cut them out.

Until next time… Happy Stampin’,

Playing in the Urban Underground

I recently got some items from the Urban Underground Suite of the Occasions Catalogue and wanted to have a play.

I wanted to show the versatility of this cards design and products within the suite to create a birthday card and a thank you card.

The two cards use Delightful Dijon and Versamark with Clear Embossing Powder (my new favourite item, don’t know how I have gone this long without it). The birthday sentiment is from Super Duper Stamp Set and the thank you sentiment is from Scenic Sayings.

How I made these cards?

  • Card base is A6 Basic Grey;
  • Card matte is 5 3/4 x 4in in Very Vanilla;
  • I stamped the sentiment in both Delightful Dijon on Very Vanilla and Versamark on Basic Grey then added Clear Embossing Powder;
  • I cut out the banner details from each sentiment that are stamped on the Basic Grey;
  • I cut out the sentiments stamped on the Very Vanilla with the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies;
  • I cut out Basic Grey circle with the second largest circle, then embossed the circle using the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder;
  • Then I cut out the two circles from the Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper with the second smallest circle;
  • Finally I put all three Urban Underground Designer Washi Tape on to the Very Vanilla matte;

Colour Challenge – CYCI#148

So I am back to blogging and to kick it off I decided on the Can You Case It? Colour Challenge.  I used this as inspiration to make my Grandma’s birthday card.   17098700_10211646694578325_3645540853983100779_n

Yellow has never been a top pick in the colour department so it was a great challenge for me and as for turquoise well Bermuda Bay has always been one of my favourites.

Here is my card:

I used the Oh So Succulent Stamp Set.  The background is stamped on Shimmery White, in Bermuda Bay and Pool Party.

The Lace Doilies are from the Falling In Love Suite.  I inked this in Daffodil Delight, then Versamarked and Clear Embossed.

The circle on the doily is die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

Finally I cut the flowers with the Succulents Framelits Dies.

Until next time… Happy Stampin’,
