Birthday Card, Can You Case It?, Challenge, Stampin Up

CYCI #130 – Make a birthday card challenge

How easy is this weeks challenge with Can You Case It? just make a birthday card.  So simple everyone needs a birthday for someone.

Here is my birthday card:

The colours I have used are Tip Top Taupe, Mint Macaron and Night of Navy.

I am totally loving the Penned & Painted stamp set.  I was initially drawn to it because it reminded so much of the What I Love stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue earlier this year which I used for creating backgrounds.

How to make this card:

  • The card base is made with Tip Top Taupe cut to A6 (148x210mm scored at 105mm) and stamped the outline of the flower in Tip Top Taupe
  • Stamping on Whisper White the painted flower is Mint Macaron and the outline is Night of Navy, the leaves outline is Mint Macaron.  Fussy cut them all out.
  • The banner is a 1inch strip of Whisper White with the sentiment from the Mixed Borders stamp set stamped in Night of Navy.  I used the Banner Triple Punch to fish tail the end.
  • I used Snail Adhesive to adhere the banner and Stamping’ Dimensionals to adhere the flower and leaves.  I tried to best line up the flower with one I have stamped on the background.
  • I finished of the card by adding Pearls to the centre of the flower in various size.

CYCI#128 – Sketch Challenge

Don’t you just love when you receive an order with some brand new goodies inside? I know I do.  In my order I received two new stamp sets from the Annual Catalogue and was happy to use them whilst playing along with this weeks Can You Case It? challenge.

Here is my card:

I’m just so happy with how it turned out.  The colours I used were Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry, a combo that I happened by happy accident because they ended up together in my Color Caddy.

The stamp sets I am using are the Alphabet Labeller and Penned & Painted.

How did I make this card?

  • The base is Thick Whisper White Card stock (My go to base for almost all my cards).  Cut to A6 (148 x 210mm, scored at 105mm).
  • The piece Sweet Sugarplum card stock is cut to 144 x 100mm. The top piece of is regular Whisper White card stock cut to 138 x 95mm.  Then I cut an 1inch off the long side of the Whisper White piece.
  • I stamped the largest flower from the Penned & Painted stamp set in Sweet Sugarplum then the matching outline stamp in Rich Razzleberry.  I also stamped two extra flowers onto a scrap piece of Whisper White and fussy cut those out.
  • I stamped out the sentiment on a separate piece of Whisper White in Rich Razzleberry and then fussy cut that out too.
  • I adhered the Whisper White top piece to the Sweet Sugarplum piece.
  • I attached the Sweet Sugarplum Ruched Ribbon around the two top layers using Glue Dots and lots of Snail Adhesive, covering the top of the Whisper White layer..
  • Then I adhered all of this to the card base.
  • Finally attaching the two fussy cut flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals and adding a little Clear Wink of Stella to the flower at the top.

CYCI#127 – Colour Challenge

Today I am playing along with Can You Case It? for the first time.  And this weeks challenge is a colour challenge.  Doing different challenges can really help get the creative juices flowing.

The colours required for the this challenge were blue, turquoise and lime.

So here is the card:

The colours I chose were Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay and Pear Pizzazz.  I have been using Night of Navy a lot lately, Bermuda Bay is one of my favourite colours and Pear Pizzazz is not my usual go to green, but I thought this was the most lime like colour.

The stamp set I used is the Pun Intended Stamp Set which is one of my favourite new stamp sets from the Annual Catalogue, it is also a Hostess Stamp Set.

How did I make this card?

  • The card base is the Thick Whisper White cut to A6 (148x210mm) scored at 105mm.
  • Background is Bermuda Bay, which I found in my scraps container, I stamped the arrow from Pun Intended in Bermuda Bay.  I was trying to create a pattern when I was the background, normally I just stamp set side to side with this stamp.  I filled in the centres of those four arrows that meet with Clear Wink of Stella.
  • I stamped the camera in Night of Navy a fussy cut that out.
  • I stamped the hearts in Pear Pizzazz, fussy cut those out too, and one in the flash area on the camera, except when I was colouring it in with soem Clear Wink of Stella it all came out at once and made a bit of a mess, so I decided to fill in the whole area.
  • I used Snail adhesive to adhere the background and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the camera and the hearts.
  • Finally stamping the Snappy Birthday sentiment also in Night of Navy next to the camera.

Mojo Monday #455

I’m back, it’s been a while!!

I wanted to get back into the swing of things with a sketch challenge…  Today I am playing along with Mojo Monday.

So here is my card:

How did I make this?

  • The card base is the Thick Whisper White card stock.  A6 (148 x 210mm)
    Scored at 105mm.
  • Background piece is using the de-inking of my Sweet Sugarplum Ink Pad, this technique I cased from my upline Rose from Creative Roses.  I cut this piece down to give have a small border around the impression.
  • The balloons in the top corner uses the largest balloon from the Balloon Builders Stamp Set.  They’re stamped in Night of Navy and Rose Red.  I fussy cut this cluster out and used dimensionals to pop up the balloons. I cut off the overhang of the balloons.
  • The banner that is layered on top of the balloons was created by stamping the arrows from the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set.  The arrows are stamped in Night of Navy and Sweet Sugarplum.  I cut this line out and used snail and dimensionals to adhere.
  • The sentiment also uses the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set. This is also is stamped in Night of Navy and Rose Red.  This is adhered with snail.
  • When I was finished I felt that the background was to plain so decided to add in the balloon strings in Night of Navy.

If you want to play along with Mojo Monday you have until 8pm MT Sunday.

Until next time… Happy stamping,
